This work is an investigation into the bones of my practice: the use of colour, pattern and light.

By breaking down my habitual making process and simplifying outcomes it has made me aware of the value in the actual making and has opened up more opportunity in exploration.

I am interested in the formal aspects where lines overlap, colours collide and how these might activate a surface.

The break between July last year up until September was a testing time for me.  The feedback I received practically questioned me to delve deeper into my practice, understanding why I do the things I do and how I project and portray this.  I seemed to be working in a way that was comfortable, repetitive and maybe a little safe.

I stripped all the layers back; I found that I enjoy bright lights, colourful colour, pattern and alternation (not just visually and aesthetically but the repetitive pattern in the way I work, being my process).

I received an enormous amount of feedback from faculty, supervisors and peers from this work and new direction, bullet-points as follows…
