Below I have copied & pasted notes directly from an email where my studio supervisor has provided me with feedback on flowcharts:
“The flowcharts, diagrams and notes that you have been compiling to discuss your ideas, may be reconsidered as art in themselves. You have created quite lovely strings of text and very purposefully placed them on a page. If you are interested in this idea, you could look at Edward Tufte and his writing on information graphics. There are also many artists who work with text and diagrams. We discussed Carl Andre’s text compositions (look for his books ‘Cuts’ an ‘Poems’) and read more here http://socks-studio.com/2014/04/17/the-shape-of-poetry-carl-andres-typed-works/“..
For myself, the use of the “flowchart” is a way of deciphering and understanding text, I understand better when text is transformed into a more visual, flowing form (not all the time though). I had never considered flowcharts as an art form, and I am not interested in going down that path at the moment..
